Chapter 24

Henry was told to take his regiment to the river. On the way there he was thinking to himself about how stupid he was in the beginning when he ran and how selfish he was. Henry knows that he is a changed person now and forgets about the bad things that he has done or thought about the other soldiers because they are in the past.

At the end light shined through dark clouds and I think that it symbolizes a new beginning. The dark clouds symbolize the bad things they had been through and what Henry had to overcome himself. When Henry first joined the army he was a kid, but at the end he had matured. He matured a lot because he was able to lead his regiment into victories and never ran after he returned from the woods.

Is the war over? Is Henry going to stay in the army and become a leader?
